Why Choose a Board Certified Plantation Elder Law Attorney

Florida certifies fewer than 130 attorneys as Board Certified in Elder Law. Board certification by The Florida Bar is the highest level of evaluation of an attorney's competency, experience, professionalism, and ethics within a specific area of law. When you hire a Plantation elder law attorney for Medicaid planning, asset protection, or estate planning, certification means your attorney has been independently vetted on the specific issues that affect Broward County seniors and their families.
Jason Neufeld earned this credential after years of focused practice in Florida Medicaid planning, long term care planning, special needs trusts, probate, and guardianship. He is also the author of How to Get Medicaid to Pay for Some or All of Your Long Term Care Expenses, available on Amazon in print and audiobook.

Broward County Elder Law Services We Provide

From our Plantation, FL office at 8551 W Sunrise Blvd, we help Broward County families with the following:

Florida Medicaid Planning

If a parent or spouse needs nursing home care, in home care, or assisted living, Medicaid can pay for most of it, but qualifying without going broke first requires planning. We help Broward families qualify for Medicaid ICP (institutional care) and the Medicaid Waiver / SMMC LTC program for home and ALF care.

Wills, revocable living trusts, irrevocable trusts, Lady Bird deeds, powers of attorney, healthcare surrogates, and living wills. Tailored to Broward residents who own a homestead, may relocate to a Broward ALF, or have heirs across multiple states.

Probate Administration

If a loved one passed away owning property in Broward County, the estate is typically probated in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale. We handle summary and formal administration, ancillary probate for out of state decedents, and contested estates.

Guardianship

When a Broward family member loses capacity without a durable power of attorney in place, guardianship through Broward Probate Court may be necessary. We help petitioners coordinate guardianship with Medicaid planning so the ward's resources are preserved.

Special Needs Trusts

First party and third party special needs trusts that preserve SSI, Medicaid, and other means tested benefits for Broward beneficiaries with disabilities.

Long Term Care Insurance Claim Denials

Fighting back when a Broward senior's LTC insurance carrier wrongfully denies a legitimate claim.

Frequently Asked Questions, Broward Elder Law

Where is the Plantation elder law office located?

Our Plantation office is at 8551 W Sunrise Blvd, Suite 102, Plantation, FL 33322. It is a by appointment satellite office serving Broward County. Use the contact button to schedule a consultation.

Do I have to come to your Plantation office in person?

No. Most Broward clients handle the entire process remotely via Zoom, FaceTime, or phone. We use the Plantation office for clients who prefer to meet in person.

Can you help if my parents are already in a Broward nursing home?

Yes. We regularly help families whose loved one is already admitted to a Broward skilled nursing facility, including Covenant Village Care Center, Manor Pines Convalescent Center, Plantation Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Broward Rehabilitation and Healthcare, and others. Crisis Medicaid planning is possible even after admission.

How much does a Plantation elder law attorney cost?

Most of our engagements are flat fee, not hourly, so you know your cost up front. The amount depends on the complexity of the matter. A simple will is far less than crisis Medicaid planning for a married couple with significant assets. We discuss fees during the initial consultation.

Do you take cases in other Broward cities like Coral Springs or Weston?

Yes. From Plantation we serve all of Broward County. See the neighborhood list above for representative coverage.

TESTIMONIALS

What People Say About Us

"Jason and his team are responsive and communicate very well. Jason helped me to get the benefits that I qualified for much faster than expected. I would recommend him highly. My case seemed complicated to me, but Jason explained everything in detail and made everything go quite smoothly. I interviewed several elderlaw attorneys prior to choosing Jason Neufeld."

"Quick turn around time for appointments, great response time, very thorough, never rushed through and soooo easy to do business with over the internet! Read the website info, very very helpful!"

“The attorney Jason and his team are amazing at planning and execution. Me and my family would not trust anyone else with our estate planning needs.”

“I've been very impressed! A friend referred me and I've experienced nothing but perfect service and professionalism. I am extremely grateful!”

“A strong recommendation for Jason Neufeld and his Elder Law firm - very professional, patient, reliable, and experienced. When my father fell terminally ill, I became responsible for his assets and finances overnight, including the daunting task to qualify him for Medicaid. I interviewed several elder law firms but was most impressed by Jason’s client approach and practices. Throughout the process, Jason and his team provided clear guidance and support to successfully complete all the new and complex tasks required as a POA, and more importantly he enabled us to quickly achieve our goals related to Medicaid and estate planning. His fees are more than reasonable for the level of due diligence and support we received.”
